What is the YAB?
The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is a group of seven high school students from various backgrounds living in the King County area who are committed to making a difference in their community as well as on a national level. YAB Officers meet every Saturday from 10am-12:30pm with our Adult Ally, Executive Director, Lynn Coleman at the South Seattle office.
During meetings, members are expected to participate in discussions, share ideas and help us plan and implement youth-led events and service learning projects. Activities include but are not limited to organizing the GiveBIG, Adopt Her Family and #GivingTuesday campaigns, host quarterly advocacy, social justice and fundraising events.
In addition all members will attend We Day at the Key Arena and take part in the Girl Up Leadership Summit and Lobby Day on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC!
By participating in the YAB, members gain community service credit needed for graduation, development in leadership, advocacy and social justice skills and the chance to collaborate with peers from all over the world… It also doesn’t look too bad on a college application!
